GMO Foods Linked To Escalation of Chronic Diseases
The film shows the connection between the introduction of GMO foods in the 1990s to the exploding epidemic of chronic diseases in America now for young and old alike.
When Kathleen DiChiara, Functional Nutrition Practitioner, saw that she and her husband and their three kids were all sick and Allopathic Medicine offered no hope, she decided to educate herself by researching online. “How to Prevent and Reverse Alzheimer’s” explains that “Amazon” John Easterling was interviewed by TeriAnn Trevenen, the CEO of the Organixx supplement company, in two of its podcasts called Preventing Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The Organixx site points out that we are in the midst of an epidemic as more and more people are suffering from cognitive decline. Now, 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s disease or some other form of dementia. Worse, researchers are now finding early signs in young adults in their 20s!
The Organixx summary points out: “The issues with Alzheimer’s and dementia, when you look at the statistics, it is really shocking. It is startling. The incidence of death from heart disease in the last 15 years has actually declined by about 11%. The deaths due to Alzheimer’s have increased 123%. People over 65, one in 10 have Alzheimer’s dementia.
Deaths of people over 65 years old, one out of three of those deaths will be due to Alzheimer’s. Actually, more people are dying of Alzheimer’s than prostate cancer and breast cancer combined. And the cost is $270 billion now. It’s expected to go to 1.4 trillion over the next few years.
The Centers for Disease Control said that this could “break the entire health system.”
GMOs — Antibiotics — Candida — Mental Decline
The Secret Ingredients film explains that the glyphosate in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide functions as an antibiotic in the gut – killing off good bacteria, but not bad ones!
“Amazon” John Easterling explains that when antibiotics wipe out the good bacteria in your gut, the Candida albicans fungus in the gut may get out of control and cause inflammation in various parts of your body – including the brain. He says that the sudden rise in Alzheimer’s may parallel the overuse of antibiotics. Of course, now antibiotics in meats and in GMO foods adds to that overuse.
Recent studies at prestigious universities like Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and Boston University suggest there’s a little-known threat to your memory — Candida albicans. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) states that “Invasive candidiasis is a common healthcare-associated infection.” In a landmark study at Johns Hopkins University, researchers found that candida yeast infections are more common in people with serious brain disorders. People who had the highest levels of candida overgrowth performed the worst on memory tests.

Video: GMO Foods Are Making Us Sick
Stephanie Seneff, PhD is a senior research scientist at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Seneff says. “At today’s rate, by 2025, one in two children will be autistic.” Since it takes two people to support an autistic person, the whole nation will be preoccupied with the health crisis both from autism and Alzheimer’s.

Introduction of GMO Foods Linked to Disease Epidemic
The film reports that Monsanto’s own research which it tried to keep secret indicated that glyphosate causes multiple types of cancers in animals. California added glyphosate to Proposition 65 as a cancer-causing agent. The film shows that glyphosate can also cause infertility and lung disease.
Claims of GMO Food Benefits Proved False
Monsanto claimed that GMO foods were needed to feed the world because they would increase yield and would lower the need for pesticides. However, the films shows that super weeds are now found on 300 million acres worldwide. Farmers use more and more Roundup to try to kill the super weeds. As a result, herbicide use increased by 500 million pounds in the first 16 years of GMOs.
In response, more powerful herbicides are being introduced including components of the deadly Agent Orange used during the Vietnam War. In addition, use of pesticides has increased and superbugs which are no longer being killed by the toxic insecticides.
Monsanto’s GMO crops are linked to the massive die-off of honey bees and butterflies. We depend on bees to pollinate many of our foods. Einstein is quoted as saying, “If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live”.
Today, Indian cotton farmers are facing a genocide that has resulted in the death of at least 300,000…between 1995 and 2013…. This epidemic began in the cotton belt, in Maharashtra, where 53,818 farmers have taken their lives.…. Eighty four percent of the farmer suicides have been attributed to Monsanto’s Bt Cotton, placing the corporation’s greed and lawlessness at the heart of India’s agrarian crisis.
Organic Foods Heal Quickly
The film reports dramatic and quick reversals of severe illnesses when people switch to organic foods. The following chart shows the degree of improvement in symptoms when GMO foods are eliminated from the diet.
Our Right To Know What’s In Our Food
President Obama Signs DARK Act Into Law reported in 2016:
While campaigning for president eight years ago, Obama promised to label GMOs. Now he’s struck a blow to our right to know what’s in our food. On Friday, President Obama signed into law a bill best described as the Denying Americans the Right to Know (DARK) Act, striking down Vermont’s popular, democratically enacted law requiring clear, easy to read GMO labels on food packaging. The bill also pre-empts labeling laws in Connecticut, Maine, Alaska and seed labeling laws in Vermont and Virginia while also preventing other states from adopting similar legislation in the future.
Over 90% of Americans support clear mandatory GMO labeling, but President Obama signed this giveaway to the Big Food industry, despite promising Americans he would label GMOs as part of his 2008 presidential run. The DARK Act, supported by Senators Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), as well as trade groups representing the Big Food industry like the Grocery Manufacturers Association and biotech companies such as Monsanto, is an unfortunate example of how powerful corporations and moneyed interests have taken over our democracy.
The DARK Act is a blow to transparency around our food—it imposes a weak labeling requirement with no penalties for noncompliance, gives food companies the option to include QR codes or 1-800 numbers on packages, rather than clear labeling, and, thanks to loopholes in the bill, will likely leave many GMO ingredients exempt from any labeling requirements. The USDA will have 2 years to come up with their guidelines for this law.

You Vote With Every Dollar You Spend on Food
The show explains that many people have had a hard time understanding the importance of switching to organic foods because they are not aware of the change in our foods since the introduction of GMOs. Because Allopathic MDs are not trained in nutrition, they often don’t make the connection between food and health. People may also be resistant to buying organic foods because they are more expensive since they are not subsidized by our tax dollars like non-organic foods. In addition, the connection between GMO foods and the epidemic of chronic diseases is not widely reported – rarely if ever appearing in The New York Times, the Washington Post, or on CNN.
However, Jeffrey Smith explains that there is a tipping point now in which GMO foods are becoming liabilities for companies as more and more Americans reject them. The overwhelming demand for organic food is growing. It is the fastest-growing segment of the food industry. The film explains that it’s important to choose foods that not only have the USDA Organic label but are also non-GMO verified to ensure they have been tested for GMOs.
The film explains that every dollar you spend on food is a vote that is heard from the farmer to the food companies to Congress. When you buy organic foods to eat at home and in restaurants, you encourage the growth of organic farms while you support your own health. You save money in the long run by not having to deal with debilitating, expensive health issues.
The ultimate answer is a ban on US foods in the US as has been done in many countries in Europe and around the world. The first step might simply be to require a label on GMO foods so that it’s easier for people to know which foods to avoid. Vermont planned to do that in 2016 until stopped by Congress.
