CBD-Infused Green Tea Matcha Latte [Vegan Recipe]

How do you start your morning? Many people reach for a steaming cup of coffee, but I prefer to indulge in a green tea matcha latte. The beverage contains caffeine, like coffee, but is also abundant in L-theanine. The amino acid tempers the caffeine so a focused, relaxed “high” results. To learn how to make your own green tea matcha latte with nut milk, keep reading.

What is matcha green tea powder?

Matcha is powdered green tea mixed in hot water. You’re literally eating the whole green tea leaf, versus drinking the water steeped with green tea leaves. As a result, matcha contains 3x more caffeine and 10x the nutrients of regular steeped tea.

How much caffeine does matcha contain?

2 grams of matcha contains approximately 72 mg of natural caffeine. That is slightly less than a cup of coffee but more than espresso. L-theanine helps to “temper” the caffeine, however, so even those who are sensitive to java can enjoy the green tea powder.

The flavor of matcha differs depending on the quality. For instance, ceremonial-grade matcha from a high-quality supplier is going to have a very rich and full taste compared to culinary grade matcha purchased from a supermarket. 

CBD-Infused Matcha Green Tea Latte [Vegan]

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Serving Size: 1-2


  • 12 oz hot water
  • 1 1/2 cup homemade nut milk (try almond, cashew, or hemp!)
  • 2 dates or 5-8 drops of stevia
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • dash of vanilla powder
  • 20 mg CBD oil
  • 2-4 tsp matcha Green tea powder*


  1. Add 2 oz hot water to a small cup. After adding the desired amount of matcha green tea powder, whisk until frothy with a matcha whisk.
  2. Either heat your nut milk in a small pan on the stove to medium-high heat or “steam” it with a steaming appliance.
  3. Add all ingredients to a blender, and blend on high for 20-35 seconds. Pour, sip, and enjoy!
