RF/EMF/5G/IOUT: Internet of Underwater Things vs. Whales and Ocean Mammals, Activist Artist Russell Wray

By Patricia Burke

“The Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, (also known as the ‘Global Network‘ or the ‘GN’) is an international network of organizations and individuals [] concerned about the militarization and exploitation of space.

In just a few decades outer space has become of the utmost importance for global commercial, political and military interests. [] The problems associated with the militarization of outer space go relatively unrecognized, and the Global Network has been working for over 25 years with groups and individuals around the world in the global campaign to use space technology for purely peaceful purposes.” – Space4Peace

The Global Network, at the Forefront on Wireless Risks

Most leading environmental organizations have yet to call for accountability for risks posed by wireless technologies, including adverse health and environmental impacts – instead promoting the idea that wireless data supports “sustainability.” The marketing machine has conflated the benefits of internet connectivity, which can be provided via hard-wired applications, with wireless applications, which are slower, less secure, and enable a surveillance dragnet, with excessive energy and resource consumption.

The Global Network has been a pioneer of informed, engaged activism, in opposing wireless technologies  enabling “Full Spectrum Dominance.”

Full Spectrum Dominance connects the domains of land, air, and sea – wirelessly, with an omnipotent 5G network, while ignoring adverse health and environmental Impacts.

Koohan Paik-Mander, a board member of the Global Network, discusses the U.S. empire’s strategy of fighting wars from both space and the sea in her article, Countering the “China Threat”–At What Price?

“In early June 2021, in a classified directive to Pentagon officials, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin slammed the former Trump administration for talking big but never taking action to counter ‘the China threat.’ Austin made it clear that things would be different under President Biden. His ‘tough guy’ rhetoric strikes just the right tone for a massive, costly, military-infrastructure overhaul that would render the conventional warfare of the twentieth century unrecognizable: more nukes, fewer troops, and an omnipotent 5G network.

The goal of this overhaul is to give the United States and its allies the ability to summon, at once, unmanned military forces to rain terror down on any spot in the world—a swarm of drones, hypersonic missiles, submarine torpedoes, and bombers—all with the ease of calling an Uber.”- Koohan Paik-Mander

War “Games” and Whales

Full Spectrum Dominance utilizes underwater communications technologies, including sonar, tested in real-time, in military exercises.

The effects of the invisible war ”exercises” on ocean mammals surface in the public’s awareness when dying and dead ocean mammals wash up on shorelines.

For example, the horrific mass beaching of beaked whales in the Bahamas, which Kenneth Balcomb reported in 1999:

“In retrospect, it is probable that all Cuvier’s beaked whales in the region when the naval exercise commenced were killed by the sonar, and not only 94.”

On May 8, 2021, an Australian warship came into port in California with 2 dead fin whales, a mother and her calf, draped on its hull.

“This resulted in the threat of a lawsuit by the Center for Biological Diversity, calling for more protections for whales. The Center has raised many concerns over the years about plans and permits for Navy training in the Pacific, which harms and harasses marine mammals millions of times per year with ship strikes, sonar and explosions.”

The Bahamas incident demonstrated the risks associated with high-intensity sonar, while the San Diego deaths were caused by ship strikes. (Other risks include pollution including plastics, entanglements, and underwater explosions.)

“Wargames” are continuing, targeting the Pacific, and specifically, the waters surrounding Guam.

“The most egregious example is the MITT (Mariana Islands Training and Testing), a plan to transform over a million square miles of biodiverse ecosystems into the largest-ever range complex for bombing and firing practice. The impacted area would be larger than the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Montana, and New Mexico combined. The largest multinational open-ocean military exercises in history will take place here, home to 26 species of cetaceans.” – Koohan Paik-Mander

Global Network Interviews Activist Artist Russell Wray

The Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space  was founded in 1992. The network offers information, resources, interviews, and newsletters to the public.  In 2017, Bruce Gagnon interviewed Russell Wray, an artist and activist living in Maine, focusing on the marine environment (1/2 hour interview).

Maine activists, including Russell Wray, have been working to protect the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale, addressing one of the largest entanglement threats … the lobster industry.

The Right Whale Calf Born to a Mother Entangled in Fishing Gear

As reported by Huffington Post, on December 11, an endangered right whale gave birth while entangled in fishing gear. Her previous calf was killed in a boat collision last year.

“‘Entanglement alone is a costly energetic drain and so is nursing a calf,’ Barb Zoodsma, a large whale recovery coordinator at NOAA, said in the release. [ ] ‘The severity of her mouth and head injuries are also disconcerting. For these reasons, Snow Cone may be facing her biggest challenge yet in the upcoming months.’ [] North Atlantic right whales are critically endangered, and both fishing gear entanglements and collisions with ships are major threats to the species. According to NOAA, there are fewer than 350 of the whales left, and they’re currently dying out faster than they can reproduce.’”

Lobsters, Fisherman, Ropes, and Whales

The birth of Snowcone’s calf followed on the heels of a failed legal attempt to address damage caused by vertical buoy lines used in lobster fishing.

Courthouse News reported,

A group of lobstermen are back out on the water, free to fish a strip of ocean about 30 miles off the coast of Maine after a federal judge stopped the implementation of a federal rule designed to protect the endangered North American right whale.

Describing it as “some of the richest fishing ground in Maine,” U.S. District Judge Lance Walker in Maine issued a temporary restraining order Saturday preventing the National Marine Fisheries Services from closing 967 square miles to most lobster fishing from October to January.

At issue: the buoy lines attached to the lobster traps and other fishing gear have become one of the biggest menaces to whales. Entanglements can lead to injury and death. It is one of the situations threatening the approximately 360 North Atlantic right whales, a decimated population once a prized quarry by the New England whaling industry.

The National Marine Fisheries Service was about to implement a rule Monday that would have prohibited the use of buoy lines in that area, essentially cutting off access to the commercial lobster industry. The service had told the court that 15% of right whales get tangled up in fishing gear in federal waters every year.

But in his 28-page order, Walker ruled in favor of the fishermen who sued over the rule and said the government used “markedly thin statistical modeling” to predict the existence of right whales in the area it hoped to close. The Donald Trump-appointed judge said he wanted more evidence to prove or debunk the claim that the right whales were swimming amongst the buoy lines there.

“While the public interest in this case cuts both ways—pitting a culturally and economically valuable fishery against the preservation of an equally iconic endangered species—it strikes me that there is an overriding public interest in insisting on orderly and epistemically sound rulemaking that members of the public have reason to believe is grounded in reality,” Walker wrote. – Courthouse News

Plankton Depends on Whales, Oceans Depend on Plankton, Oceans Depend on Whales, Humans Depend on Oceans

The “overriding public interest in insisting on orderly and epistemically sound rulemaking that members of the public have reason to believe is grounded in reality,” referenced by the Judge is completely lacking regarding the complexity of the ocean ecosystem, and regarding decision-making about the EMF/RF/5G/IOUT landscape.

This was noted in a 2008 report by the National Academies regarding RF.

A court recently ruled that the FCC’s decision not to review its exposure limits for microwave radiofrequencies was arbitrary, capricious, and not evidence-based, for humans, on land.

We cannot export this skewed science into the oceans.

Nature Has Yet To Have a Seat At The Table Regarding The Wireless Tsunami

If we do not watch this scenario very carefully, technocrats will promote putting an underwater radio transmitter on every fish and mammal, devoid of safety and environmental testing and monitoring for the Internet of Underwater Things.

Were we not devoting so much money to military expenditures, we could be more quickly developing strategies to live in responsible balance with ocean inhabitants.

We cannot extend prevailing paradigm errors regarding wireless exposures, including wide-scale corruption of science, to the oceans. Be on the right side of history. These are Late Lessons from Early Warnings.
