Five Ways To Improve Your Focus During Meditation

Meditation is a popular and beneficial practice that can help to reduce stress, control anxiety, promote emotional health, improve sleep and enhance self-awareness, among other useful effects.

To receive its advantages, meditation requires you to be present in the present moment and stay focused on your breathing, which is one of the most common issues faced by many meditators, especially beginners.

While in the digital age, it might be too easy to become unfocused, you can do a few things to help you concentrate and stick to your daily meditation session. Here are five ways on how to focus better during meditation.

Eliminate All Distractions

Avoid having any distractions, whether it is your phone, TV, pets or children playing in another room. Make sure to create a boundary between you and the external environment as sometimes even one sound can greatly interfere with your concentration and therefore, your meditation practice. You can use ear-plugs or noise-blocking headphones to avoid all kinds of distractions.

Create The Right Environment

A good idea to use all your five senses to create an ideal place for your meditation practice. For instance, consider incorporating different items that inspire you, such as a poster with mindfulness quotes, pictures of your loved ones or something that inspires you. Bring fresh flowers or great-tasting candles that stimulate positive energy and help you clear your mind. Surround yourself with background music, preferably something relaxing but without lyrics to prevent you from distracting. Try round/square pillows, use your favourite blanket or add a cosy rug – whatever you need to get in the zone and avoid sitting directly on the cold floor. Have a cup of herbal tea like chamomile to help you unwind and better prepare for your session.

Make Sure You Are Comfortable

When practising meditation, it is essential to remember that you are going to be still for a significant period of time. For this reason, make sure that your clothes are comfortable enough and are not going to become a distraction.

To concentrate effectively, make yourself comfortable and sit upright with a straight spine. Then try to relax your body by inhaling and exhaling and releasing all bodily tension.

Take CBD Oil

Taking CBD oil is a natural way to relieve anxiety and stress, boost your mood and energy levels and improve focus. Cannabidiol (CBD) is able to interfere with the complex endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for the most crucial bodily processes such as pain, stress, appetite, pain, sleep, inflammation, etc. Results of its interaction help to bring all functions in balance, provide needed relief and enhance general wellness.

To promote better concentration, you can simply intake a few drops of CBD oil, add the oil to your beverages or purchase various ready-made options like CBD capsules, gummies, tea or many others.

Give Guided Meditation A Try

If your thoughts constantly arise and you find it really difficult to concentrate, you may want to try a guided meditation to dive into that meditative state. With guided meditation, you don’t even have to know all specifics or how to meditate. All you have to do is to simply listen to reach the subconscious without spending too much time. Headspace, Calm and Aura are some of the best examples when it comes to guided meditation.
