You can avoid this situation, by making your very own anti-dandruff solution right at your home. It is important to keep in mind that dandruff comes from the scalp, and you must gently massage this dandruff remedy into the scalp.

These recipes are so gentle that you can use them several times a week.

HONEY

Raw honey is rich in vitamins A, B-complex, C, D, E,  beta-carotene and tons of minerals including magnesium, iron, potassium, calcium, manganese, and phosphorous. Grandmas usually recommend it to prevent thinning hair.

How to Use it

Apply diluted raw honey (90 percent honey and 10percent water) on wet hair. Massage the solution into scalp for 2-3 minutes, and then leave it for three hours. Wash it off with warm water. If desired, you can rinse your hair with 3/4 cup water and 1/4 cup vinegar to seal the hair cuticle and to make hair shiny.

Repeat this procedure every other day for about two weeks.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Rinsing with vinegar for a shiny hair and a healthy scalp is another thing that grandmas often recommend. The reason it works might be due to its high content of probiotics, which help fight bacteria and fungi. It also contains enzymes that may help open clogged hair follicles. Whatever the reason, one of the most effective home remedies for dandruff is apple cider vinegar.

How to Use It

Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water. Put the mixture into a spray bottle and apply spray it to a freshly washed hair and scalp. Be careful not to get it in your eyes! Put on a shower cap and leave it for 15 minutes to two hours, then rinse with warm water. Repeat this procedure twice a week until dandruff is gone, then use as needed.

TEA TREE OIL

Dilute several drops of tea tree oil in a small amount of olive oil or grape seed oil. Rub the oil mixture into your scalp. Put a shower cap, wrap a towel around your head and leave it on overnight. Rinse your hair well in the morning.

PLAIN YOGURT

Apply plain yogurt into your scalp and gently rub it. Leave it for an hour, and then rinse out with cool water.

COCONUT OIL

Massage your scalp with 3 – 5 tablespoons of coconut oil. Leave it for an hour, then wash it off with shampoo as usual.

ROSEMARY

Chopp 1 teaspoon of rosemary and soak it in 1 cup of boiling water. After the mixture cools, strain it out. Rinse your hair and scalp with the rosemary water.

NETTLE

Boil 1 cup of water, and then add to the water 2 tablespoons of dried nettle leaves. Let the solution steep for a few hours or overnight. After you strain out the leaves, pour 2 ounces of apple cider vinegar into the water. You can use this mixture in place of your regular shampoo. Instead of nettle, you can make this solution with 1/4 cup of parsley.
