Lyme Disease Science and Policy Forum on Capitol Hill May 19
Speakers include experts from the fields of microbiology, pathology, molecular medicine, integrative medicine, diagnostic testing, and government oversight.
On Thursday, May 19 The Mayday Project Lyme patient advocacy group will host a forum on the scientific and policy challenges posed by the rapidly growing epidemic of Lyme disease and associated tick-borne illnesses. The forum will take place from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at 2325 Rayburn House Office Building. Speakers include experts from the fields of microbiology, pathology, molecular medicine, integrative medicine, diagnostic testing, and government oversight.

While this is not official business, members of Congress and the media are invited to attend. The forum is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. Registration is required and will begin April 19. The forum will also be webcast via Live Stream.
The forum will be preceded by a “We The People” rally for Lyme patient rights from 9:00 am-3:00 pm at Union Square at Pennsylvania Ave and First St., NW. A memorial and vigil to honor those who have died from Lyme disease will be held from 6:30-8:30 pm at the same location.
On May 20, The Mayday Project will host simultaneous solidarity rallies for Lyme patient rights at the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) headquarters in Arlington, VA, and at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
About the Mayday Project
The Mayday Project was formed by a group of volunteers who have been touched by Lyme disease. Mayday advocates for accurate tests, better guidelines, improved access to treatment, more education for physicians, and increased funding for research.
