Texas City to Vote on Water Fluoridation in November

As anti-fluoride activists are taking to the streets across the pond in Bedford Borough (UK), Texas is witnessing a surge of activism surrounding water fluoridation as well.

The group Fluoride Free San Marcos has organized a successful petition drive to add the option of dropping water fluoridation from the San Marcos water supply to the ballot in November.

There are two propositions on the November ballot.

One has to do with elections and the other involves whether or not to end the practice of adding fluoride to drinking water.

With their success in getting the issue on the ballot, the group is now working to educate voters as to why the issue is important and to why they should de-fluoridate their water.

Sam Brannon of Fluoride Free San Marcos stated:

There’s never been a randomized control-trial on this product they put in our water, they don’t know for sure if it’s doing anything good for us and they certainly don’t know whether or not it is harming us.

Believe it or not, people have protested the mass medication of the public through drinking water all along. The fluoride in tap water – although touted as healthy and safe – is nothing more than the “legal” unregulated way for chemical companies to unload their waste. And we pay for that privilege.

Last year, a highly contested Harvard research study published in The Lancet implied that water fluoridation is not only ineffective for teeth but is a neurotoxin associated with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental issues. It has also been associated with a significant drop in IQ. Fluoride was recently outed as damaging to the thyroid – that is significant when talking about neurodevelopmental problems.

Most recently, a scientific review found a stark correlation between fluoridated water supplies and instances of ADHD diagnoses.

The only reason such reviews remain speculative or as a study of correlation versus causation – is because fluoride has been an industry/science darling from the beginning and the bias still remains. This unfortunately shuts down any true research into the matter and so the issue often falls on the demands of activists as a final resort.
